What do you need to know about Grenache?
Grenache noir is the Mediterranean grape variety par excellence! Of Spanish origin, it was imported into France, particularly in the South, in the Middle Ages and today represents 100,000 hectares of French vineyards. A very widespread variety, it is present throughout the world: in Italy, Spain, but also in California, in the various vineyards of South America, in Australia and in South Africa. Grenache thrives on dry, stony soils: it is in these conditions that it gives a very sweet juice. Here in Corsica, we like to call it "aligante" or "elegante" because it brings roundness and elegance to our wines. Yves uses it for the YL red wine, blended with nielluciu, the grenache offers a very greedy wine, full of voluptuousness. A word of advice? Enjoy this wine with a nice rib of beef!
